Project type

Safe Water

Location

Assam and Meghalaya (India)

About the project

The project activity involves the promotion of purified water to 10,000 families of socially deprived communities in India’s states. The project activity reduces the use and demand for fossil fuels and non-renewable biomass that would have been used to boil water to purify water in the absence of this project activity. This directly leads to reduced greenhouse gas emissions and benefitting the user`s health. The annual estimated emission reductions for the grouped projects are 21,000 tCO2e/annum.

This project is under development.

Social impact

The objective of the project is to improve the living conditions of the 10,000 people living in the northeast states of India by providing sufficient, affordable, and clean drinking water to the communities.

Impact beyond carbon credits

This project caters to multiple SDGs including improving lives of local communities, reducing pollution and creating jobs.
