S&P Global CSA & DJSI Readiness
The S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) is an industry-specific ESG assessment that evaluates companies across environmental, social, governance and economic criteria. It produces a sustainability score that enables organisations to benchmark their performance against industry peers and identify opportunities for improvement.
CSA scores are also used when selecting eligible companies for inclusion in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI), now known as the Dow Jones Best-in-Class Indices. However, completing the CSA or achieving a particular score does not guarantee index inclusion. Selection remains subject to S&P Global’s eligibility requirements, assessment methodology and index criteria.
The Carbon Collective Company helps organisations prepare for the CSA, identify scoring and evidence gaps, strengthen questionnaire responses and improve their ESG performance over successive assessment cycles.
Our approach
Our CSA preparation and score-improvement programme is tailored to the company’s industry, current ESG maturity and previous assessment performance. The process focuses on producing a complete, consistent and evidence-based submission while identifying practical improvements that can strengthen future CSA performance.
- Confirm objectives, responsibilities, timelines, internal stakeholders and the information required for the assessment
- Review the applicable industry questionnaire, previous CSA results and available scoring feedback to identify priority areas
- Coordinate the collection and organisation of policies, performance data, disclosures and supporting documentation from relevant departments
- Assess current practices and disclosures against the applicable CSA criteria, scoring methodology and relevant industry benchmarks
- Develop clear and complete responses across applicable criteria, supported by relevant evidence and quantitative performance information
- Review supporting documents for relevance, completeness, consistency and alignment with CSA evidence requirements
- Conduct a quality review of the completed questionnaire and provide technical support during submission through the S&P Global Sustainability Reporting Portal
- Identify priority actions, responsibilities and longer-term initiatives that can strengthen performance in subsequent assessment cycles

Important distinction
The S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment produces the company’s ESG score. The Dow Jones Sustainability Indices use CSA scores, together with eligibility and index methodology requirements, to select leading companies for inclusion.
The Carbon Collective Company supports CSA preparation, submission quality and ongoing performance improvement. We cannot guarantee a particular CSA score or inclusion in any Dow Jones sustainability index.
