United Nations Global Compact (UNGC)

The United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) is the world's largest corporate sustainability initiative, with over 20,000 participating companies committed to ten principles across Human Rights (Principles 1–2), Labour Standards (Principles 3–6), Environment (Principles 7–9), and Anti-Corruption (Principle 10).

Participation requires annual Communication on Progress (CoP) disclosures — classified as Learner (entry level), Active, or LEAD (advanced). Failure to submit a CoP within required timelines results in delisting from the UNGC participant database, which is monitored by investors and procurement teams. The UNGC's SDG framework and its sector-specific guidance align with GRI Standards and CSRD ESRS human rights topics (ESRS S2, S3, S4, G1). Many CSRD reporters and BRSR Core disclosures reference UNGC participation as evidence of governance and human rights policy commitments. Without structured alignment, organisations risk CoP non-compliance, delisting, and inconsistent implementation of the ten principles across business functions.

Our approach

Support is provided across the full UNGC participation lifecycle — from initial alignment assessment and CoP drafting through to LEAD-level strategy integration. The process maps current practices against all ten UNGC principles, identifies gaps across governance, human rights, labour, environmental, and anti-corruption policies, and produces a CoP disclosure structured to meet UNGC requirements and align with GRI Standards. The objective is to ensure compliant, credible, and improving UNGC participation integrated with broader ESG strategy.

  • Assessment of current practice alignment with all ten UNGC principles across governance, HR, labour, environment, and anti-corruption
  • Gap identification across UNGC principles with reference to GRI Standards topic-specific requirements and CSRD ESRS alignment
  • Development and strengthening of policies, codes of conduct, and supporting documentation for each principle area
  • Preparation of Communication on Progress (CoP) disclosure meeting UNGC Active or LEAD-level requirements
  • Alignment of CoP with GRI Standards disclosures and CSRD/ESRS human rights and governance topics for reporting integration
  • Integration of UNGC commitment into broader ESG strategy, stakeholder communications, and SDG-linked reporting
